Depositing and compacting tens of thousands of tons of dirt on the Arizona-side approach ramp has been the focus of the most recent work on the new Colorado River bridge that will provide a second connection between Laughlin and Bullhead City when it opens next year. Fisher Sand and Gravel Company crews continue working to build the road base up to the height of the concrete bridge structure on the Arizona and Nevada sides of the river. Although no official completion date has been set, officials expect the new bridge and the 3.5-mile road on the Nevada side that will connect the new crossing with Needles Highway to be ready to open by spring of 2024.
